BELLE MEADE HAS WITHDRAWN PETITION
September 10, 2010, 4:39 pm

Belle Meade has filed a motion to withdraw its Petition for Leave with the Supreme Court.  That motion will be granted.

That means, Belle Meade has decided to accept the decision by the Appellate Court of Illinois voiding out the forced annexation.

We have won this battle!!!!  Monee will not be annexing the property as petitioned.

HOWEVER, we must keep in the back of our minds that there could be future actions.

For now, let us celebrate!!!

Congratulations Kim to you and all of the people who worked so hard to make this happen! My understanding is the Attorney who did a great job for this cause in court has not received his full payment. How much is owed to him and will there be a collection taken up to cover these costs? To all those who put thousands of their own dollars up to cover a portion of this payment THANK YOU ALSO!!

Thanks but you are right, the majority of the congratulations should go to Cory Lund the attorney who handled this case. He did an amazing job and yes, he has not paid all the monies owed him.

There will be no collection, as far as I know. However, if you wish to donate you may make a check payable to: Citizens to Preserve Green Garden, P.O. Box 279, Monee, IL 60449 – Attn: Janet Disteldorf or Tracy Johnson.

Again, thanks for all the support and help during this process.

Yes. please consider making a donation to pay off the remaining $6000 that we owe Cory-and do we owe him! You can send it to me -check payable to Citizens to preserve GG or to Tracy Wilson and I will forward it- some of this debt will be forgiven or written off but I would like to settle up as much as possible. I have been sending money myself to show him we are trying and don’t take this for granted. We want to keep Cory and his firm in case we need them again and making a good faith effort to pay off that balance is a good idea. Thanks for donating-Janet Disteldorf

Maybe we can do a fundraiser or something to pay the legal bill?

Since you asked…
We can use the election season to Green Gardens advantage. Contact all of the people running for office in our area, and invite them to help raise money for the Green Garden Defense Fund. Here is how it works: One weekend next month have anyone running for office work at an intersection (with a stop sign or traffic light)anywhere in Green Garden. Have them carry a bucket that says: Green Garden Defense Fund for Cory Lund (or something along that line). The person could wear a campaign button or shirt. We take a picture of each one of them and tell them who ever raises the most money will get their picture sent in to the local newspaper for helping out the community. This way the people running for office can get their face in front of the locals, and help off set the leagal costs owed to Cory.
Even if the people running for office do not buy into this idea, they have been contacted and could contribute money to this cause if they like. Then we local people could still take to the intersections ourselfs. This is a very low over head way to help collect the money that is owed to Cory for his legal work on our behalf.
